The Sant Singh Khalsa Transliteration of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib

I have been looking into what YB-isms, words, and phrases got added into the 3HO/Sikh Dharma English transliteration of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib. This contemporary version of the Sikh sacred teachings was authored by American Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa and published in 2013.

All of these words and phrases are worth checking against the original Gurmukhi words.

Can you think of more?

1. Siblings of Destiny – YB’s name for his cult members.

2. Naad – might be used in the Guru Granth. Need to look. But in YBism it is short for Naad Yoga.

3. Kundalini – used 5 times.

4. Ida

5. Pingala

6. Sushmanaa

7. vibrate

8. resonate

9. celestial

10. Tenth Gate

11. crown chakra, crown and chakra separately too

12. Page 108, Line 16 Does Guru Arjan say: “Those, whose inverted lotus of the crown chakra is illuminated.”?

13. lotus (means chakra in YBism)

14. Page 333, Line 3 Kabir: “I turned my breath inwards, and pierced through the six chakras of the body, and my awareness was centered on the Primal Void of the Absolute Lord.”

15. Primal Void

16. Sound current

17. Page 436, Line 13 Guru Nanak “Hearing the unstruck music of the sound current, this mind contemplates the Shabad, and accepts it.”

18. Unstruck music.  (Now “unstruck music” might be a good translation But I would check it. Is this the same thing as what in English is called “the music of the spheres”?

19. “cosmic” ? This could be okay, but it has that New Age “vibration” so check it too.

20. Page 1043, Line 13 Guru Nanak.  Did Guru Nanak really say: “Inner cleansing techniques, channeling the energy to raise the Kundalini to the Tenth Gate” ?

21. Third eye.

22. inner cleansing

23. Technology – used 4 times!  “technology of yoga”

24. Page 2, Line 19  Japji   Guru Nanak  “Listening-the technology of Yoga and the secrets of the body”

25. Page 26, Line 8 Guru Arjan  “The heart-lotus blossoms forth, and they intuitively center themselves in meditation” How about just “the heart blossoms”? What is the Gurmukhi word used?  Heart-lotus is the heart chakra in KY.

26. Does the SGGS say “lotus feet” of the Guru? Or just feet?  “Lotus” is code for chakras.

27 . Page 973, Line 8 Namdev  “Control of the breath and positioning of the tongue, focusing at the third eye…”  “Positioning of the tongue”? Like acupressure/acupuncture?

28. Is “their destiny is written on their forehead” a correct translation? The third eye is the sixth chakra in center of forehead. And YB taught about our “arc lines” in our auras. According to YB this is where our destinies were written. and, of course, YB could read our destinies written on our foreheads.

29. “Channel” is used 18 times in the Sant Singh version
